1989 TPI ECMs require the correct Mem-cal to supply fuel and spark calibrations. Custom programmed mem-cals are supplied to defeat VATS, and eliminate nuisance trouble codes. 1989 was a unique year for TPI systems, as GM eliminated the cold start injector in 1989, while still using a MAF sensor.
