All TPI ECMs from 1990-92 require the correct Mem-cal to supply fuel and spark calibrations. Custom programmed mem-cals are needed to defeat VATS, eliminate nuisance trouble codes, and correctly match engine modifications on non-stock engines. 1990 and later Mem-cals also contain the electronic spark control (knock sensor control) eliminating the ESC module underhood on earlier TPI systems.
