Howell EFI Announces Ford TBI Kit Offerings

Howell EFI has always been very well respected for their many Jeep TBI kits for the off-road market, as well as their many kits for the 304, 360 and 401. Now available are Ford TBI kits from 240 CID up to 460 CID. In fact, for anyone interested in converting a V6 or V8 engine from carburetor to throttle body fuel injection with an ignition other than points, Howell can create a throttle body kit for any configuration.  If you don’t see the part # you are looking for, give us a call.  And remember, some TBI kits come in a one size fits all offering. We at Howell understand that one size does not fit all, and work closely with every customer to be certain each aspect of their set up is discussed to ensure kit components are a perfect fit.

The kit features a remanufactured GM throttle body appropriate for your engine size, and operates engines with or without ECM controlled ignition. It contains all sensors, components, wiring harnesses, ECM and fuel pump to install fuel injection on your engine. Also includes custom calibration PROM, and an ECM that installs under the dash. The fuel pump installs in the main fuel line, and bypass fuel is returned to the tank. Harnesses include a diagnostic connector, and diagnostic is similar to 1986-92 GM pickup. The kits have proven to be especially popular for older street-driven, or 4 wheel drive vehicles, and greatly increase drive-ability, fuel mileage, and cold starting.

Howell Makes Ordering an EFI System Simple and Easy

Howell EFI, well respected in the industry for their plug and play EFI systems has earned that reputation for a reason. Their customer support team knows every question to ask to make certain that what ships out from Howell covers every possible base for a complete and easy to install system.

Here is a sample of a typical order taking conversation:

  • Wiring Harness was needed for 1971 Pontiac Firebird

Vehicle:

  • Engine ?  GM Crate engine – LS3 with 525 horsepower
  • Transmission?  Rockland Standard Gear six speed
  • Manual or automatic? Centerforce twin disc hydraulic clutch
  • Any cam changes?

Key order taking questions:

  • Where does the battery mount – underhood or trunk?
  • What kind of cooling fan arrangement do you have – single or dual fans?
  • Any smog requirements?
  • Eliminate speed sensor?
  • Are we providing the computer?
  • Do you have a core on the computer?
  • Where do you want to mount the control module – under hood, in the interior?
  • With belt system does that put alternator on top or down low?
  • Does the alternator have a four or two pin connector?
  • What about mass air flow sensor? Are we supplying the front two oxygen sensors? Length of the harness from passenger harness to computer mounting point?
  • Fuel pump to mount in trunk – this is normal for fuel injection conversions
  • Gold or Silver Blade in the throttle Body – signifies engine type.

Notes:

These engines require the drive by wire pedal – mounted on the firewall. Howell offers reprogramming of the computer control module if needed. Can be determined after the engine is up and running.

Howell EFI Announces Arrival of New Fuel Injection Conversion Kit for Classic Jeep Wagoneer & Grand Wagoneer

The 1971-’93 Jeep Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer have a huge following among off-road enthusiasts. Howell EFI has recently released a carburetion to throttle body fuel injection swap kit which includes everything you need to swap over your 360 or 401 V8 to fuel injection eliminating all of the carburetor issues that plague these classic offroad vehicles. Howell EFI Announces New 1955-74 Toyota Landcruiser Electronic Fuel Injection Conversion For F3.9L Engines

For fans of the classic ’55-’74 Toyota Landcruiser, replacing the troublesome carburetion system with state of the art electronic fuel injection required a custom build that could end with questionable results.
