The name Vortech has been applied by GM to several variations of truck V8 engine from 1996 to the present date. At first, Vortec referred to the Sequential Fuel Injection (SFI) engines from 1996-1999 based on the original small block V8. Later, the name has been applied to the Generation III truck engines starting in 1999. However, the earlier SFI engines were used in several Van and truck applications after 1999. These modern SFI engines are found under the hoods of hundreds of thousands of GM trucks, SUVs, street rods and classic pick-ups.
The advantages of SFI are enormous when it comes to big performance, fuel efficiency and precise fuel delivery, making this family of engines the perfect match for road and trail alike.
If you need to replace your OE Vortech fuel injection harness or ECU, or you want to drop a Vortech into a restored vehicle, street rod or truck, Howell is here to help. Our Vortech harnesses are handmade from GM/Packard high temp wire and feature waterproof Packard Weatherpack connectors that keep you firing on all cylinders even in the roughest conditions.
While other DIY companies give you complicated wiring diagrams, lots of wire and a pile of subpar connectors, Howell has simplified the installation process with application specific plugin assemblies, clearly labeled connectors and four basic bare wires to hook up. No muss, no fuss and no watching your buddies speed off into the sunrise while you wrestle with hooking up your fuel injection.
Howell Engine Developments harnesses are all designed to work with GM OEM style computers (ECM). ECM's are sold separately form the harnesses and are programmed specific to your engine application. Your ECM can be sent to us for use as a core for a cost savings.
